Let’s Talk Music Finds 2024

I love music. I play the piano, sing, and collect quite a few songs throughout the year. They don’t really have a lot in common with each other. . . I am eclectic to the max when it comes to music! One minute I’ll be listening to Vivaldi’s The Seasons, the next I’m jamming to the soundtrack to the Spiderverse films. (Shrug).

For today’s list I don’t really want to talk about the songs. . . Because it would take too long and I have lazy “winter break” syndrome. Therefore, I’ll say in ONE sentence what caught my attention the most for each song!

Let’s do this!

  1. Stephen Sanchez – Until I Found You (Official Video)

I thought Stephen Sanchez was a forgotten 50s music icon and I’ve listened to this song probably 50 times this year or more!

2. MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES Season 2 – Opening FULL “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” by Creepy Nuts (Lyrics)

I started dancing before I knew it the first moment I heard it and it was what I looked forward the most when watching the anime MASHLE: Magic and Muscles.

3. Little Bug on the Wall

I have somewhat of an obsession with Bluey now and I hum this song to myself all the time.

4. Billy Joel – Turn the Lights Back On (Official Video)

I enjoy this song basically because it put to shame so many of the stupid artists who think they can write music just by pressing an AI generator button.

5. On An Evening In Roma (Sott’er Celo De Roma) (Remastered 1998)

Male singers from the 1930s-1960s truly knew how to woo a woman with beautiful music.

6. Nathan Evans – Wellerman (Sea Shanty)

Speaking of men who know how to woo a woman, this Scottish singer made me want to time travel to old Scotland and marry a seaman.

7. Those Were the Days

I love those old time Guitar solos before they became whiney and loud.

8. THE WILD ROBOT TRAILER – What A Wonderful World By Bob Thiele & George David Weiss | DreamWorks

Although I still love Louis Armstrong’s version, this one makes me think of The Wild Robot, therefore it’s been stuck in my head for months.

9. Welcome to My World

Love songs are truly not what they used to be!

10. Tom Walker – Head Underwater (Official Video)

I love the video editing in this music video and how rhythmic it is.

11. OneRepublic, Assassin’s Creed, Mishaal Tamer – Mirage (for Assassin’s Creed Mirage)

This song inspired me to run like a warrior from Assasin’s Creed.

12. Welcome To My Dream – Nemo’s Dreamscapes

It is an ethereal call back to the past and I wish more people wrote music like this now.

13. Teddy Swims – Lose Control (The Village Sessions)

Bluesy magic I am happy is on the radio instead of other pasty artists.

14. The Blasting Company – Dizzy in Sunlight (feat. Ashley Nguyen DeWitt) (Official Audio)

Anything made form this magical group is bound to get my attention. (Over the Garden Wall forever!)

15. Norah Jones – Sinkin’ Soon

The stop-motion animation is strange, but the song makes me want to get back into Jazz band.

16. Claire Wyndham & Dave Thomas Junior – What Happens Next

Super sweet song I like to listen to when I mediate.

17. Warm

Johney Mathis is a gem who had his ten years in the sun and nothing more.

18. Tally Hall – Hidden in the Sand

The old time animation makes me giddy and I want to use it in my classes later.

19. Jagwar Twin – Happy Face (Lyrics)

Someone should use this croony song for an AMV or something soon.

20. Alex Warren – Before You Leave Me (Official Video)

I mostly just like the dancing regency era dancers and running to it.

Honorable Mentions

EURIELLE – PETIT PAPILLON (Official Video)

Such a weird music video, but beautiful nonetheless.

JVKE – Golden Hour (official music video)

I couldn’t put it higher because. . . he looks dumb with golden glitter all over himself and he forgets how to sing until the preamble for the chorus.
